Hygienic Micro Motion Meters

New 2 and 3-inch line sizes add to family of Micro Motion® H-Series flowmeters that serves biotech, pharmaceutical, food and beverage applications

Offering the widest selection of hygienic Coriolis meters available, Emerson Process Management further expands its offerings with the addition of new 2-inch and 3-inch Micro Motion® H-Series hygienic Coriolis flowmeters specifically designed to benefit biotech, pharmaceutical, food and beverage applications, all Micro Motion H-series meters are drainable and ideal for clean-in-place (CIP) and water-for-injectables (WFI) applications.

The broader application range of the extended Micro Motion H-Series flowmeters expands the use of their accuracy and precision to power Emerson’s PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to improve manufacturing quality in these regulated industries. Additionally, the online monitoring and diagnostics of the Micro Motion H-Series meters provide predictive process and flow meter health information that PlantWeb delivers to those running the plant, enabling more efficient scheduled and proactive maintenance.

Micro Motion H-Series flowmeters are now available in five sizes: ¼-inch, ½-inch, 1-inch, 2-inch and 3-inch. These meters are popular for use in hygienic processes that require dependable flow and density measurement. Offering superior performance in a compact cleanable and drainable design, Micro Motion H-Series meters now accommodate a broad spectrum of applications up to 10,000 lb/min (272,000 kg/hr). Some applications where these meters are improving operations and reducing cost of ownership include:

• CIP systems requiring stainless steel for compatibility with caustic cleaning solutions
• Viscous fluid measurement such as corn syrup, meat slurries, starches, and confectionaries
• Skids with space constraints
• Dairy receiving
• Cheese and yogurt processing
• Edible fats and oils
• High purity utility loops (WFI)

Micro Motion H-Series meters meet stringent 3-A authorization and ASME Bio-Processing Equipment Standards requirements. All sizes, up to and including the 2-inch, also have EHEDG (European Hygienic Equipment Design Group) certification. EHEDG certification is currently pending for the 3-inch model.

While the ¼, ½ and 1-inch models of the Micro Motion H-Series offer an electropolish option, this feature will be added to the 2-inch and 3-inch models of the Micro Motion H-Series meters in the near future. Electropolish on the wetted surfaces maintains greater purity and yields in ultra-pure applications such as bioreactor, fermenter and active ingredient separation.

Micro Motion H-Series meters offer a variety of process connection options to fit virtually any application. They have either integral transmitter mounting or easy four-wire remote transmitter mounting with local display. These meters are available with milliamp and frequency/pulse outputs, plus HART®, FOUNDATION™ fieldbus and Profibus® communications protocols. Micro Motion H-Series meters eliminate fluid conductivity limits and density assumptions often made with more traditional volumetric flowmeters, such as differential pressure/orifice, magnetic, positive displacement, turbine, and vortex. Because the Micro Motion H-Series meters require no flow conditioning or straight runs, no liners or electrodes and have no moving parts, there are no ongoing maintenance requirements or concerns over leaking, wear or calibration drift.
