Predictive Power with Micromotion
Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitters add PlantWeb alerts and density calculations for delivery over FOUNDATION fieldbus networks

Continuing its drive to increase process availability by delivering predictive information for use by personnel running facilities, Emerson Process Management today announced the release of its new Micro Motion® Model 2700 Coriolis transmitter that features new density information and PlantWeb® Alerts delivered throughout facilities by FOUNDATION™ fieldbus-based digital communications networks.

Emerson began offering PlantWeb Alerts in 2002. The new PlantWeb Alerts are implemented as the Micro Motion Coriolis transmitter senses abnormal conditions and delivers alert information to the DeltaV digital automation system. Detailed information about the alert is available in the AMS Suite of applications where they selectively warn maintenance personnel and operators in advance of issues so they can take action to avoid fault conditions or final control deterioration.

Enhancements to the Foundation Fieldbus capabilities of the Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitter include the ability to deliver new density calculations. While the improved Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitter maintains its superior measurement accuracy of mass flow, volume flow, density and temperature, it can now calculate relative density and °API at the user's selected standard temperature utilizing the equations for hydrocarbon fluids provided in the API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards. In addition, using predefined algorithms, the transmitter can also calculate enhanced density variables such as reference density, true specific gravity, concentrations, %Solids, °Brix, °Plato, °Balling, and %HFCS.

The Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitter with FOUNDATION fieldbus functionality adds to the broad family of intelligent field devices that power operations efficiencies and savings by Emerson’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture. As a component of PlantWeb, the Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitter further strengthens the digital plant architecture’s proven ability to improve plant efficiencies by 2% or more through delivering asset optimization, process automation, and management execution. Further cost savings, such as increased plant availability and enhanced safety and environmental compliance, are achieved when the transmitters are integrated into the PlantWeb architecture.
